For a piece called “Running Crazy”, this one took a long time to be released.
Lately I’ve been concentrating my efforts on composing for media libraries, so I haven’t been releasing as often. “Running Crazy” was also written originally for media, but my advisor felt it wasn’t right for libraries. Never one to let creativity go to waste, I chose to release it as a single instead. It was due to come out by the end of the year (2025). As the due date came around I realized that I still had no video, no promo reels and no post . Instead of releasing with no promotion, I chose to put it on hold. Now I had no deadline, which is bad. After a month had gone by I put something else on hold indefinately to get this out. So it’s already live on Spotify but other platforms may take more time. I know, crazy.
The title
I’m not quite sure what genre to call this, but it’s definitely fast and a little quirky. I thought of calling it Running Around or Going Crazy, but they both sounded a little mundane. So I combined the two and came up with Running Crazy, a phrase I may have made up. Unlike the first two ideas, I found no song by this name on Spotify.
The cover photo
I generally use Canva to design my graphics. Sorry, I still can’t afford to pay a graphic artist for everything. Sometimes I find a template I like and make changes to reflect the title and mood. Other times I search for a photo with the title as a keyword. Neither of those methods were working, so for the first time I asked AI to create a photo of running on the piano, since that’s basically what my fingers do here.
The video
Stock video but no AI this time. I found people running for sport and animals running, but none of these really seemed to fit. Animated videos seemed a better match. While working, a social statement began to appear. Everyone seems to be running crazy, but why? No answer, just something to think about.
